@killyourfm This would be nice in my car. Do you still need iTunes/Music to sync files? How about flac?

@alerich Open source to the rescue! There's a project called RockBox that acts as alternative firmware. This allows you to change up the UI, play FLAC, and simply drag and drop content onto your iPod (works on Linux, macOS, and Windows).

Or, you can absolutely use iTunes on Windows or Apple Music/Finder on macOS still.

If you don't use RockBox, you can find free software to convert FLAC to ALAC.

@killyourfm, thanks for this. I had an ipod Shuffle almost 20 years ago, but also loved the idea of the wheel in the iPods, I still find it more interesting than touchscreens. So inspired by there posts I bought a Classic. Today I installed Rockbox and it's rocking! By the way, what's the theme you're using there (if it's Rockbox)?

@nausahaver NICE! Welcome back to the fold, and it’s awesome that you went with a Classic. Maybe I’m biased, but they still look and feel modern to me. Modded or regular?

I wasn’t using Rockbox in this photo since I wanted to test battery life with out-of-box firmware, but:
