I'm finding again working in .

F# is a pure joy.

Again, I miss a better support from the IDE, but folks, the language is such a delight... I did not even realize it's 2 A.M.

@arialdo what are you missing in IDE support?

@khalidabuhakmeh, @arialdo, also, @pblasucci, what's your IDE recommendation for F#?

arialdo,
@arialdo@mastodon.online avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh refactoring capabilities. Extracting functions, modifying the order of function parameters, inlining elements, even selecting sematically, all of this works very poorly in Rider, as compared to how it works with C#.

@arialdo we're working hard on the experience and if there's something missing please enter an issue. Our F# team is responsive to the community.

@khalidabuhakmeh I didn’t know you were part of the dev team! Cool, kudos! Rider works amazingly well with C#, it’s a just stunning.
I love both Rider and F#, and if you say that reporting ideas and comments helps I’m more than willing. I do it often for C#.

@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@arialdo I'm a dev advocate and work with the team. The dev team deserves all the credit in the world.

And yes, I've often seen feedback make it into the product. Your feedback matters, I promise.

@khalidabuhakmeh Thank you man. I believe in your good intentions!

I'm being super honest: from time to time I loose my hopes reporting bugs to JetBrains: it happens too often they are just ignored for years.

Today I was going to report one, and I found a 2 years old, still pending duplicate.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@arialdo I'll bring this one up to the team.

@arialdo@mastodon.online avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh thank you man. But that was just an example. The one getting me mad is the Main Menu cannot be hidden anymore

@arialdo I just tested this on Mint Linux with the latest EAP and it seems fixed (I think).

JetBrains Rider without separate toolbar

arialdo,
@arialdo@mastodon.online avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh you are very kind man. I’m updating and trying. Thank you!

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@arialdo I'm just here to help as best I can. I want folks to be as happy with JetBrains tools as I am.

arialdo,
@arialdo@mastodon.online avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh I would also like to continue loving as I used to do, but it's getting harder and harder: since a while, new bugs and regression issues are popping up, and then systematically ignored

This one has been reported 11 months ago, and unsolved since then. As a paying user, this is depressing. I'm very sorry to say.

@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@arialdo Did the previous solution not work with the latest release? I can see my screenshots from the conversation.

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@arialdo This is the best I could get on Linux Mint, but it’s not what folks are asking for in the issue. Let me ask folks.

arialdo,
@arialdo@mastodon.online avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh I could use Distraction Free Mode or Zen mode, but it also hides the tabs. The Main Menu cannot be hidden anymore.
Apparently, it's a combination of some regression bugs. Nadia answered a fix is planned for 2023.3.
