DON’T: Try to assess the situation and make sure you’re seeing it correctly in case the other person isn’t aware of the greater context
DON’T: Discuss it calmly with the person concerned to make sure that everyone is on the same page
DO: Create a public spectacle about it that annoys everyone else who has to see you try to make it everyone else’s business
I’m sorry, but myself and most people on Fedi aren’t here because we want to be involved in some wild vague goose chase about who interacts with who, or who said what about who.
Surely this kind of stuff is better dealt with in private with the people affected, without needing to make it everyone’s problem.
“Hey! I noticed this thing about this person. Do you mind if we talk about it? Here’s some of the evidence.”
“Oh, thank you. We can talk about it. Thanks for the evidence. I’ll make my mind up based on this.”
“Okay! Depending on your response, I’ll make my own decisions, negative or positive.”
“Wow, thank you for approaching me with this in a private and thoughtful manner.”
“No problem! I don’t see the point of making this a public boxing match for everyone and anyone to stake their claim, no matter how uninvolved they are!”
