Every so often I think it would be worth it to build a friends-only file sharing network. Has applications beyond sharing music/movies/etc. especially in high-surveillance and censorship-heavy environments.

Then I wonder if I would just end up rebuilding Syncthing or Tahoe-LAFS. So I don’t do it.

Is this a mistake? Should I build it?

@yonkeltron I just want to go back to college and browse my friends' files on Wirehog and Direct Connect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirehog

I'm not sure we can go back, the world has changed, but if you could open a portal back to the peer-to-peer filesharing era, I think you should.

@skyfaller @yonkeltron if you’re serious, maybe I should be more serious also.

@skyfaller @yonkeltron I started sketches out some code tonight. I have thoughts.
