Another big accident on San Jose Ave (at Duncan). A car hit the lightpost in the center of the road so hard that the lights fell off the top. I’m just trying to get some groceries without getting crushed at a crosswalk. It’s wild out here.
@exkclamation yep, that’s the market I was heading to when this happened. We see similar accidents once a month or so, especially close to the crosswalk at SJA and 28th. Not sure if it’s worse than other streets or not, but I think cars tend to go faster here because there are four lanes.

Something about Guerrero/San Jose being treated like a freeway onramp seems to bring out the worst in everybody. To me it seems a little more rational back by Duncan but by the time SJ reaches Randall it's constant Applied Driver Psychology Theater.
I'm really impressed by how vertical that pole has remained despite its base suddenly turning into a parallelogram.
@docpop@exkclamation ... Oh. Just looked in my photos and realized the SF311 report I put in tonight for a flickering LED streetlight was the one across the street from that. Thought it looked dark on the corner, but I didn't even notice the pole that's now missing both its lights.
@carraway@exkclamation I wonder if the pole was designed to take a hit like this without collapsing. It really crumpled so evenly in one direction, but is still standing. The repair crew is there now checking it out. It looks like they are dismantling the top section, so I'm assuming they are getting ready to replace the whole thing.
