Something occurred to me the other day that’s a bit painful to admit, but I’ll admit it anyway and maybe you’ll understand why I brand myself as a perpetual social media idiot, I mean, amateur.
As a “professional knowledge worker” (ick, seriously) I have long embraced the practice of Inbox (near) Zero, which means ideally you clarify the meaning of each item that comes into your world and take appropriate action on it, and not leave a bunch of unaddressed “things” lying around that will bite you in the ass later. That’s all well and good and useful for living in this fire hose orgy that is modern life, until you bring that attitude to your social media feed. Then something that’s supposed to be fun turns into another chore. I realized I was subconsciously putting pressure on myself to make sure I had my feed covered while also not expecting anyone to treat my drivel as particularly important. Pretty stupid, ain’t it? 😆
