I was feeling very sorry for my container clematis, which has been brown and forlorn since December (though it was still blooming happily in November!). But look! It's growing again already! 💜
@KurtHohmann The front of the house gets quite a bit of sunlight, but I really wasn't expecting to see it grow quite yet since the weather's been up and down a lot. I'm used to clematises being twitchy and a bit sulky, so this one has been a surprise all round. 😂
Are you in the northern US, then, if you're not expecting much to grow yet?
@PaxAsteriae@KurtHohmann I can't recall where Kurt lives, but here in northern New England, we don't get our first flowers until early-April (soooometimes you'll get crocuses and the like at the end of March). And any half decent nursery will tell you to not plant any annuals until the end of May (because we can still get deep freezes at night until then).
I wish we got flowers in February/early-March. T'would make late-winter and early-spring less... blah.
@SJHoodlet@KurtHohmann 😯 I find it so strange that it's always so cold for you guys. we're on a level with Newfoundland, but the gulf stream warms us up a lot — by 10-15℃, apparently. (People like to scaremonger and talk about the chaos if it switches off... but they clearly have NOT looked at any maps and thought about how lucky they are it exists in the first place...)
