I subscribed! The answer is ... close but not quite. He does advise the guy to ask follow-up questions, but imho could have been significantly stronger on it - he was very gentle. This is why he's the advice columnist, I guess, and I'm just some random angry bitch.
@girlonthenet Forcing myself to answer before looking at the replies, but I’d tell him to be interested in her. Like, ask stuff, sure, but don’t just have some dick-assed list of questions. In other words, don’t just feign interest, BE interested. Humans are AMAZING, find out about them! You have an amazing chance!
Ironically, the advice is the same I’d give to a journalist even though that’s completely the wrong vibe: don’t just work through a list of questions: LISTEN TO THE ANSWERS and riff.
