Today started off with despair.

I lay awake in the dark, from about 4 am to 9 am, trying to lull the brain back to sleep with podcasts [hoping that external words would calm the inner ones], overly aware of the failing aspects of the meatsack and ruminating on the end of the world.

That CDC headline yesterday was a kick of a confirmation that I do truly believe the world is ending, we are SO ASTONISHINGLY BAD at governance and compassion.

I listened to the 9 am news (bad) and then forced myself to get up and open the blinds and attend to some of the meatsack's basic (human) needs.

Today, only the easiest of foods seemed possible. That means no cooking. Just liquid calories with protein. Preferably palatable.

I'm considering trying to deduct smoothie expenses as health care. A government tax return as commentary on the death of public health, offloaded onto the individual, "solved" through consumerism. "Dr. Blendjet."

But even a protein smoothie wasn't possible this morning without weed.

I've talked about this a lot elsewhere, e.g.:

In addition to making food easier, weed makes me better at interoception and less concerned about masking.

And it reminds me that things aren't going to get better until I start actually doing the work, day to day, theory into practice.

Weed moves me from despair to acceptance and determination.

That's good medicine.

@Cassandra it is good medicine indeed. Very helpful for many issues and many people.

@Snowshadow @MnemosyneSinger asked about it yesterday and I decided to go scrolling through my archives :)

So, how do I want to spend my finite time and energy as the world ends:

  1. Healing and growing.
  2. Helping.
  3. Speaking truth.
  4. Loving and appreciating.

I need to be more disciplined about my time.

(I wonder if it would work if I made myself a school schedule...)

@Cassandra Wow, I was recently reading a book about this - picking your life "virtues" or core truths whatever you want to call them and this is the same list I came up with. This just really caught me off guard for some reason, to see it exactly laid out like mine! I've also found your thread on weed for autism fascinating. I had no idea it could have that impact. I'm neurotypical and haven't smoked since high school recreationally. Definitely a fly on the wall here but, it's fascinating

@vanessawynn Neat! What was the book?

I must of course now add a disclaimer that other people have very different experiences with weed - including significant negative experiences. Caveat fumor.
