Eustress in humans is poorly studied, some make the case it doesn't exist: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bies.201900238, while others https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8872528/ are attempting to measure it.

My takeaway - at worst it doesn't exist. If it does exist, then it isn't yet well enough defined to be useful.

flowchainsenseisocial,

@mlevison Maybe. But... the original 1975 paper by Hans Selye conceptualising eustress is considered foundational work, and the basic notion of "good stress" separate from distress has been widely accepted and built upon in later research across multiple fields.

@flowchainsenseisocial Can you get me citation to read?

FWIW I'm aware that some others assume it's good. I suspicious of untested assumptions in any field

@flowchainsenseisocial I love meta studies since the researchers normally find studies I wouldn't and look for flaws I might miss.

@flowchainsenseisocial I found the DOI. Now I just need to find a PDF.

Thought experiment. Let's magic up evidence that it exists -- how would a leader make a better decision using this info?

You and I would need different levels of stress as inputs. So as far as I can tell, the theory tells us nothing we can act on.

Please tell me what I have missed? (I would be happy to change my mind).
