I remember saying this to my stepfather some 30 years ago. He just shrugged and said „Germany emulates the US. They’re just like 20 years behind us. You‘ll see Germany catch up“. He wasn’t entirely right, but he wasn’t entirely wrong, either. In a lot of ways, he was entirely spot on. Which is sad and a bit terrifying.

@Morgunin Yeah, it's incredibly frustrating how only ever the bad political ideas get imported from the USA to Germany these days.

And it is no accident that German conservative politicians even outside of the AfD have started to decry anything they don't like as "woke".
