Recovering from a back injury, really wishing we had some way to develop software while walking about, especially outdoors. Not looking forward to sitting/standing in one spot again for 90% of working hours.

Phew, first workday after 2 weeks of nursing my back. Couldn’t focus for crap because I had to keep minding it, but I think I got one or two sensible things done. Still can’t use a standing desk, which is annoying. Really don’t wanna go back to sitting.

Jeez, likely 6–10 more weeks before my back’s gonna heal. I guess even minor back injuries are a huge pain in the ass (literally so, at times).

Thankfully I’m starting to be able to work again. So back to posting gamedev stuff soon, I hope!

@jonikorpi 😕 take it easy, it’s a slow process. Easy to get frustrated especially when you occasionally back-slide, which often happens when it starts to heal and you over-exert yourself accidentally. If that happens try not to be too downhearted, it’s just a blip in the overall upward trend, tedious as it is, it’s just one foot after the other each day

@sinbad Thanks, will try!

P.S. Finding it funny how well what you just wrote describes not only back injuries, but also gamedev. :D

@jonikorpi seems like you need Wolfram's walking desk

@justinpinkney By the look of its ergonomics, my neck would violently disagree!

Some of the most productive time, code-wise, for me was my military service: I thought about code for a week while in there, and coded in the weekends off.

Time sitting at the computer isn't necessarily the most productive time.

@jonikorpi
This doesn't apply to reverse engineering or code archeology, though. You need to have enough of the pieces in your head for it to work.

@sol_hsa Yeah, its also harder if you’re relatively new to programming, or bad at visualising long chains of things in your mind. Need at least a pen and paper then, to “test things out”. Might start walking around with a notebook. :p
