Anyone else find themselves casually looking at the various Forth Bridges this week, to see what kind of protection their tower bases / piers might have?
I'm pretty sure the aircraft carriers only really go through with the guidance of tugs, and I know there's not really much of anything that could have stopped a panamax or even bigger vessel but, still, what with recent news, I can't help but wonder...
@daveybot IIRC the bridge supports are in shallow water and surrounded by heaps of boulders, and/or built on islands, so that any ship will run aground long before it can hit the bridge supports.
