Oh, neat...there's a channel points bot available for @owncast now too. Urge to hack on python code rising...

@trentskunk @owncast Sometimes, I question if bots need a chat for this at all, but then get reminded that Owncast and many other streaming solutions (including any desktop and mobile apps made on top) only have chat and video itself for the purposes of constantly circulating user-generated content. Heh.

@vintprox @trentskunk Sometimes! Owncast is used for all kinds of things, user-generated content is certainly one of them. But it’s probably used even more as video infrastructure for companies, events, venues, etc. But the user-generated content is going to be the most visible for obvious reasons.

@owncast @trentskunk Heh, I wanna clarify that I meant custom notifications and suchlike as UGC. Would be neat if there was some standard coming for those, but the subject is probably too subjective for this.

@owncast @trentskunk Of course, there is no need to come up with entirely new messaging protocol, when there is the chat backend already and it delivers fast. It's usually the presentation of bot notices that bothers me: they get mixed in with human messages and even don't get a different look. Always wanted to look in the lively stream chat with people's thoughts and not worry about missing other events.
