Texas is uniquely vulnerable to power failures because it cannot draw electricity from neighbors in a crisis. It is the only state in the contiguous United States disconnected from the national grid, a deliberate move to avoid federal regulation.

@GreenFire @ShredderFeeder Some of us who live here in Texas don’t like it here and wish they could leave.

=-(

And some of us are vulnerable to how this place is run.

Most of us are not willing to abandon our fellow Americans to the whims of idiots that's happening to them in our red states.

@GreenFire @WillardHerman I fully support a fund to help people who want to leave shitty states (like..you know, all of the states from Texas through Florida)

We should fund their departures.

We should not cede our territory to our enemies by migrating away from the fight imo. I think that progressives should move to rural red America and help to flip them blue.

@GreenFire I’m not sure it should be up to people who live in blue states to move to Texas or anywhere else that isn’t a match for them. The responsibility is with the voters in those red states. They need to wake up and finally get what voting Republican means and it ain’t pretty. Well, I guess unless you are very very rich like Harlow Crow. It’s hard not to see Texas as rampantly stupid for voting Abbott in again as governor.

@annietime
It is not the voters that are the problem!

It's the nonvoters that are our best hope. Too many Americans have been led to believe that voting doesn't matter, but they should look towards Michigan and Minnesota to see what's possible when progressives cast ballots. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/11/10/texas-voter-turnout-2022/

There are millions of smart, educated Americans living in Texas and all our red states. Take Clayton Meeker here in relation to power there and what we're calling a Virtual Power Plant using behind-the -meter solar and batteries.

He was making $5/kWh briefly this week. Basically, paid for his entire month’s bill in 1 day. He knew the risk of brownouts was fairly low, and I wanted to help keep the gird going while getting paid. Win-win! If there was an outage, He would have conserved …
