@ludopolitics there is definitely an element of weaponized media studies in it -- a lot of practitioners were eager to professionalize psyops, and to yoke it to "scientific" discourse.

@ludopolitics Have you read Audra Wolfe or Rebecca Lemov's work? They deal a lot with the pseudo-social science of the Cold War.

@ludopolitics yeah Wolfe is really great -- super useful! I also read some interesting stuff by Ajit Maan on narrative warfare -- she's got a humanities background and now consults with US intelligence.
