If you are curious about the current state of federated git forge like gitea and other, maybe have a look at:

At least they are trying but it seems to be a very complex model looking at the fediverse and the actual interoperability limitations/issues of ActivityPub. Why not just federating the actual git commit log? and carrying just the notification via ActivityPub?

https://paperbay.org/@a @forgefriends @n0toose I think such an endeavour carries all kinds of fun little side quests to solve e.g. how would rebase work, large file support etc. I’m definitely bookmarking this for further reading. Just imagining that my tiny git forge can federate with someone else’s and we can both do whatever we want while working on something together - just instantly cool!
