@revengeday can we get our data or do I have to start over again 😥 I didn’t backup my subscriptions and now just see this update. A warning would have been nice..
@revengeday I can understand shutting something down when it's keeping you busy around the clock. I'm still pretty bummed out because I really enjoyed the instance but also glad that I didn't migrate my community over because that would have been lost now. 😕
@revengeday I support this 100%. The health and well-being of the mods and admin come first and if the "juice ain't worth the squeeze", then shut it down. 🫂 It was an experiment and I personally don't feel that it was around long enough to become an integral part of day to day life.
Personally, the toxicity of Reddit is what kept me from using it and the reason that I gravitated to DT was in the hopes that the niceness of the #fediverse would make the Reddit format a more welcoming place. But that turned out not to be the case and it seems like the Lemmy devs don't want it to be a nice place. Didn't seem ready for primetime yet.
That being said, I do enjoy the format of DT, and if we can try another "experiment" that isn't necessarily connected to the #fedi but rather a place where we can build a nice, safe, spambot-free cyberpunk discussion culture, I'm all for it!
Maybe go back to the old BBS format for members of CI or something? :skippy3: But only as long as it's healthy for admins, mods, and users. We don't need more toxicity in our lives in whatever form that takes.
@revengeday I am planning on switching storage away from cloudflare (wasn't able to due to a lack of time) to conform better to the gdpr do you have any advice (articles, research or own experience), that you can point to? Could come in handy, since I maybe want to implement some cdn stuff as well (if necessary).
@Weirdaholic As I work in the field: Cloudflare isn't prohibited by the GDPR. You just have to disclose it.
Don't want to say it's not better for privacy. It definitely is. But you don't have to rush if this would cause you problems. But be sure that you mention it in your privacy stuff.
@kaiserkiwi I was planning to improve my documentation (including the ruleset and the privacy policy) as soon as my exam phase is over. I just don't have time for this right now.
I just thought, that this would be a convienient moment to ask for advice, so that I have at least some idea what to actually do.
