“Stunt philanthropy” – things like the viral ALS challenge that you may remember – has more recently been associated with a single influencer: Jimmy Donaldson, a YouTuber called “” who often creates viral videos that raise awareness and money for people in need.

It’s hard to predict what the future holds for stunt , but it seems that it’s probably here to stay.

@TheConversationUS Personally I'm not a fan of these things. But also, I believe charity is unconditionally good, so props to MrBeast for helping people in any way.

@TheConversationUS he cracked the Matrix. He saw young people put their eyeballs primarily in two places: the rich and the dumb so he combined massive wealth and algorithmically perfected clickbait and laughed his way to the bank.
