No respect for our institutions as he helps tear them down.
Leo rejects Senate subpoena from panel probing gifts to Supreme Court justices https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/04/11/leonard-leo-subpoena-senate-supreme-court-gifts/

@jeffjarvis Can't read the paywalled article, but rhe Senate really should have issued the Leo subpoena a year ago when there would have been ample time to enforce it.

Leo is counting on using the election to run out the clock, and will probably succeed.

@jeffjarvis ordinary citizens can just reject subpoenas now?

Apparently they really do need to revert to the sergeant-at-arms going out to arrest people like 100 years ago.

@jeffjarvis

And shall we guess what will happen to him for refusing a government subpoena ? I'm guessing.... nothing. Not a damn thing.

@kbsez @jeffjarvis let's say the Senate suggests prosecution and the DOJ agrees and starts it.

Leo will appeal all the way to the Supreme Court, which he owns.

We need to get the Democrats a trifecta and then absolutely demand they at the minimum expand the court and impose term limits of some sort.

And we probably need them to flush the lower courts down the drain and reboot them (totally within the power of Congress).
