Passivity to (really) bad behavior perpetuates the behavior. It tells the wrong-doer "it's cool, no problem".

And where there are victims, the passivity, by default, shuns them. It tells them that what happened to them was "cool, no problem."

This is why I'm a stickler for doing everything I can to not support really fucking horrible people and their endeavors.
