iOS: default settings are nice, but you can only change a handful of things. Harder to build apps for it because of gate keeping, but higher quality overall in the store (not because of the gate keeping, not defending it here).
Android: default settings are total crap, but you can change nearly everything. Easier to build apps for, but quality is really a mixed bag in the store.
Choose your poison.
