our orthodontist society is out of control. messed up teeth add character. barring health issues: it's societally-imposed vanity. i will still kiss even the most f$&ked up of teeth mouths.
if you have brilliant-white-super-straight teeth i am more inclined to not like you. this is one of the many examples of how i am wired poorly for modern society which is good and bad (mostly bad). people spend thousands of dollars to get the blinding teeth, and (on average) this will improve social standing with the socialites and influencers but it will negatively impact your standing with weirdo adults who never grew out of their goth phase.
@buru5 I don't think there's anything too weird there. They are the type of person who could very easily lead you blindly off a cliff, following the instructions of a madman. Anyone who would go so far as to inject poison into their 20 year old face, or shove chemicals on their teeth or lie under a uv light to bake their skin, is not someone I could relate to or trust in any real way. I'm only being 5% honest though. Everyone has their own battle, and I'd make a effort to understand them.

Once I met a guy whose teeth looked kind of “shaved off” into a straight line. And also a thin nose that looked a bit fake… but you never know right? 🫢
Incidentally though, he had a greedy “let’s make some businezzzz!” attitude. Like a wannabe Patrick Bateman.

My teeth are fairly yellow (and I do hate it, I want them whiter but haven't done much about it) - heavy smoker and coffee/tea drinker for years (plus weird staining from when I had a bad fever as a kid?) Don't smoke cigs anymore or drink much coffee or tea now but the yellowness remains. As a reminder. hahaha

@jake4480@buru5@spinning_bird if only there wasn't a stigma attached. I'd like it if my teeth were less yellow, but that is only because of stigma, my teeth are actually pretty healthy.
@Badolwen@buru5@spinning_bird yeah, that does suck. And I've noticed it, even myself. I think more highly of people with whiter teeth. Even though mine are so yellow. It's an unconscious visual bias
@Badolwen@jake4480@buru5 There are whitening toothpastes, but afaik they work by rubbing down the outer layer of the teeth. It can have detrimental effect on tooth health, and I'm not sure if it'll have a guaranteed effect.
I see nothing wrong with doing something against the yellow color if you don't like it. It's not like you have to go overboard and make it unnaturally white.
@spinning_bird@Badolwen@buru5 I've tried whitening strips, I hate having them in my mouth and you have to do them for so long, I gave up. Couldn't do it. So unless I have it professionally done, because yeah the whitening toothpastes don't even do much, I tried those for quite a while
@jake4480@spinning_bird@buru5 thing is, I think they look yellow, but I don't think they are actually that bad. If I isolate them in a photograph, they look okay. It's possible yours are fine as well.
