Another interesting video about Enshittification as its coverage goes further main stream. Kind of surprising how everything from big tech companies have turned to crap.

Of course, I started noticing this trend after leaving the :deadbird: site, but of course it since gotten worse. Maybe it's a combination of no more free money and higher interest rates along with VC money drying up, most of the startups and big tech realize that they have to make money to be substainable.

This is why I prefer self-hosting and owning my music for certain things.

super depressing and so true

I have a housemate who orders McDonald's through Uber and pays a huge amount. They say but that is what I want and I don't have time. I pay less for a dinner at my fav. restaurant then she is for a fast food burger.

I don't buy subscriptions. Right now I can't think of a single one. Except for those auto pay for the next year of a program. Which I will stop using. Dark pattern. To hard to stop paying for software I stop using.

@NaraMoore While I get Uber credits (probably $25 per month) from my American Express cards, I usually get takeout (not fast food) only using the credits, but I never use delivery as besides the higher prices, Uber charges a lot for delivery and put a lot of junk fees, which makes it not worth it.

In general, fast food prices has been getting to the point that it might not even be worth it anymore. :meowShrug:

I only have a handful of subscriptions as it's hard to move away from Adobe and of course I also subscribe to Office 365, Grammarly, anime streaming subscriptions, and a few other software and Nintendo Online.

Don’t like the shift to subscription, especially when the app doesn't justify it if they aren't providing a service. But they do make it hard to cancel, which should be simple, but isn’t.

fastfood: Subway I would argue is still worth it for me, even at $20 for a sub, compared to what you are getting (in terms of amount/healthy) with a $5 biggie bag at something like wendy's.

At Subway, You are getting a healthier meal plus, more out of your meal. It is more expensive then Wendy's or McDonald's, but it seems like a good deal if it's not an every day thing.

I wouldn't eat there too frequently because it is more expensive then some of the other fast foods, that said, the food quality is solid. Could it be sold cheaper then $20 or more per sub, probably but the food is good and fresh and it feels like it is worth it.

Subscription services: I use to hate but I can see them being worth it if it's a service to some extent. If it's something like Photoshop, and i'm paying for it monthly they should be pumping out the best features all the time and innovating.

Nintendo Switch online is a great example of how not to do a subscription service. They basically sit on old content, and make you pay atleast $50 yearly for the best version, and they don't offer you all the old content. They make so much money off of the service it's ridiculous they insist running it that way, but I get why they do it, to keep people paying longer hopping one day maybe they get a certain console or game added.
