I think the thing that time travel stories really fail to capture is that if I went back through time now, with none of the usual GPS mappery I currently rely on, I would be immediately and irrevocably lost. I got rid of my car a couple of years ago and am attempting to traverse the land on public transport and foot and frankly if my phone dies I may never make it home.
I'd completely forgotten this - was thrilled when I learned it a couple of years ago. Think it was a Joe Haldeman book and it just blew my mind. I'd be VERY lost then.
