Despite some real beef with Arc Search and spending a few weeks using Safari as my main browser, I can’t deny that Arc for the Mac is the perfect browser for me.

Here’s a few reasons that make it hard for me to use anything else.

@matt I don’t know if it’s how I use Arc Search with my iPhone but I just love it. I use it alongside Kagi Search and it’s a great for me. I hardly use my iPhone for browsing saved sites so I only have about 5-6 favourites on the browser. Most of my use is either for searching on web or on apps like discord and other social media apps.
If and when it’s available to sync Arc sites from Mac to iOS, I don’t think I’d even do it.

@sinky That's valid! I only have 8 sites bookmarked in Safari, so pretty similar, although the inability to easily bounce between devices (both directions) is huge for me, so different use cases.

Although it does sound like I'm also more negative on browse for me. I just don't love the CEO going out there talking about how the ideal web browser doesn't show you websites people like me make, it takes the useful info from those sites and presents it as it's own.

@matt That’s really understandable Matt.
As someone who doesn’t work in tech, Arc search is a really handy app. On the other hand, as a creator like yourself and many others, it is worrying.

@sinky I'm with you there. I wrote this as a member's post a couple months ago which touches on this feeling as well.

@matt meant to ask you, in recent videos do you colour grade them to look quite blue/cool as opposed to your older ones that had more warmth and colour to them?

@matt@isfeeling.social avatar

@pauls Oh boy, detailed question!

So in fall last year I started shooting in LOG and have a fixed set of adjustments I apply to the footage to get the look I want. Any change after that comes down to my lighting. I don’t own a single key light or anything, so it does change a bit depending on if I’m recording in the morning or afternoon…and a ton of it’s raining outside.

Also what do you do when you want to use a UI as your thumbnail but it’s too low resolution? You rebuild the entire thing in Figma, of course!

Also I had a little fun at the start of the video.

@matt Being a hardwood floor I’m hoping you had a pillow or blanket down lol! Drop the mic lol

@tchaten I have a couch just below the shot so it was a soft landing 😂

You may have noticed I used the old iPhone 13 mini for this just in case it bounced in a way I didn’t expect 😝

Finally, I probably have a closer relationship with The Browser Company than anyone else I cover, but I’m still happy to l toss their current premiere product across the room and blog pretty aggressively against it because it annoys me.

To their credit, they haven’t cut me off and have always been friendly in the face of criticism.

Related to the recent “what is the job of reviewers?” debate, I think this is a good example of how it should be between critic and business.
