I talked to my students about the war in Gaza and asked about the climate on campus. They were saying that people were so entrenched and they were confused about who was who and why and all that. They mostly don't have clear opinions. They seem to think they are expected to have strong opinions. There have been very few protests on campus that I'm aware of. Some pop-up displays about both sides of the issue. That's it.

Our 7th grade daughter asked Wednesday at dinner, "Aren't we supposed to be on [redacted]'s side?"
It prompted a good discussion as a family about how nuanced (and confusing) the current and historic situation is for Israel and Palestine.
We were pleasantly surprised that our 10th grader had been reading news about it on her own and already realized beforehand it was a not a clear cut situation.
Not unexpectedly both said no one is discussing it in classes or at school.
