Tonight’s movie night movie will be, “Armageddon (1998).” I hope Bruce Willis can save the day this time. He usually does, but if he doesn’t the whole planet is going to get destroyed. So no pressure.
Yep, Armageddon is still a pretty dumb movie that doesn't make much sense, but it sure is a fun and ridiculous ride!
Afterward some of the kids felt that not enough things went wrong which seemed like a wild take considering basically everything that could go wrong does go wrong in the movie.
Their position was that everyone should have died and the world should have exploded because there's no way any of it should have worked at all.
IMO the movie is too long and could have been tightened up a bit. It still would have been over the top, of course, but it could have gotten there a bit quicker without losing much of anything.
Still, though, I don't hate it. It's fun.
Plus it's nice to see an "old fashioned" disaster movie once in a while that still crashes cars and blows up miniatures rather than just animating everything.
@bigzaphod I couldn't abide the premise that it’s easier to teach a driller how to be an astronaut than it is to teach an astronaut how to operate a drill.
