I am baffled by these AI devices. There must be some demand. But even the Rabbit shouldn’t get a pass for being “only” $200. “Only” $200 can get you a phone. And that phone will do a bunch of similar things, without needing charging every four hours, and without a UI designed by a sadist.

@craiggrannell IMO the Humane pin would have utility if it was always recording, so it sees what you see, and can therefore use a whole load of context about your life.

Of course I wouldn’t trust any tech company to do that without being evil…

@craiggrannell On one hand, I’m glad that people are trying new things. It would be great to have more innovative hardware outside of what we get from just a handful of tech behemoths

OTOH: Can that be about literally anything besides AI 🙄

@BenRiceM Indeed. I’m all for innovation. I like the notion of dedicated devices. But these things lack any reason to exist, beyond making people feel good about AI. Well, until they use them.
