@jackyan Showerthoughts: I think often about how bad xml is and http too. If you rendered the entire page, you wouldn't be able to block ads - like its just one big image right? Remember the image masks where you'd define hotspots to click back in the day? rust, webassembly, shenaningans, feels a bit like reinventing flash from first principles... aaaanyway...
@nf3xn True, I couldnʼt block ads if the page were rendered, and do I remember defining those hot spots! Fun times, especially as we were dealing with such tiny areas (with hindsight there was little point, just make the whole image clickable!). Nothing truly new under the sun, just adaptations given that the medium is still a flat screen of dots in front of us.
