@skinnylatte seriously. And there used to be a tamale lady in my neighborhood. She always came by at like 830am on Saturday and I would jump my ass out of bed for her 😂😂 they were so good
@skinnylatte it may be rose colored glasses but I feel like we used to have so many more interesting and adventurous food options. And now so much has gotten really conservative and one note. Seems like that’s the only way to survive.
@Jackiemauro probably related to housing prices. If people can’t work in the city late night, the restaurant options don’t have many hours. Everyone’s very focused on doing higher end food to survive. Which is fine, but I also wish they did a better job with that. That’s why I find myself crossing the bridge so often to Oakland, Richmond, Fremont and other nearby cities to get the sort of food I miss. There are a handful of exceptional city restaurants but I find it much better out there
@skinnylatte yea I think that’s 100% it. I left sf for New York in 2006 right before tech really got its claws in. Came back in 2012 and it was a real WTF moment on the food front. I mean it’s also probably why all the interesting food left is in the TL.
