"we'll take everything you love and literally crush it into a soul-less piece of tech" is not the greatest advertising messages of all time

lzg,
@lzg@mastodon.social avatar

did you lovingly restore an arcade cabinet you fucking nerd? did you know you can play that same game on a slippery thin glass, you loser?

@lzg we are currently having a flamewar at work between the "it has to look like a CRT's resolution" and "crisp Pac-Man is just fine" contingents, but all agree on an actual console.

@lzg

What a stupid ad.

WTAF @lzg that's... why the fuck are they glorifying violence like that? that was so absolutely unnecessary. you have to destroy everything people love so you can force them to buy an iPad? this is way beyond the late stage capitalism death cult. wow.

@lzg They'd have crushed an actual artist if they could of gotten it on the air (at least that's what the breaking the back of the wood modelling doll makes abundantly clear). Basically the iPad Pro is a war on art and humanity then?

xgranade,

@fifilamoura @lzg It doesn't feel coincidental that the same announcement also included "AI" functionality. That ad just brims with glee at the idea of reducing history, art, and play to some empty "content."

@lzg just watched it (and heard it was taking some flack but haven’t seen what anyone is saying). Here is my take: most of the things getting crushed are things I love, piano, arcade machine, books, guitar, turntable… stuff I want in my home and life. Goals

@lzg tone deaf beyond belief.

This is an example where CGI would be preferable. The visual metaphor is fine, but the actual destruction of tools of creation feels disturbing.

@lzg NO CREATE ONLY CONSUME

tef,
@tef@mastodon.social avatar

@lzg i am also old enough to remember when apple lauded itself as the computer for creatives and it just feels like i've only just caught up to how long ago that apple died

@tef@mastodon.social avatar

@lzg crushing all the things that bring people joy is how apple used to portray the competition
