@twobiscuits I thought #Bodkin could have benefitted from better writing. People have gotten used to the Phoebe Waller-Bridges effect—surprises. It needed more of that. Integrate the supernatural element better into the storyline. The writers missed the opportunity to use the Catholic religion and all its mysteries to mine jokes. And for gosh sakes, don’t make the rookie error in close captioning by referring to the language spoken in Ireland as “Irish”. It’s Gaelic.
@MoiraEve I’m Irish, and tbh in English we have always referred to the language as "Irish". "Gaelic" and its equivalents in other languages tend to be used, I think, outside Ireland, wherever people might not have registered that it’s a separate language.
As for the Catholic religion, maybe you overestimate its relevance in contemporary Ireland.
@MoiraEve As an actual Irish person from Ireland, I'm not following this. How about making jokes about us all drinking and fighting a lot. I bet they'd be really funny too. Though I think that film's been made already, with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
