I really like how Google scams people who unsubscribe to Google One Drive by sending them emails that say their Gmail will stop working. Completely untrue. Sure, I'll have much less storage space, but I'm completely OK with that. The point is, my Mom would completely believe that without reading any further...
@wendigo love how Google gaslights everyone into thinking their email is the only or best one, I mean, sure, I use it. But when (it's coming) I transfer fully to Proton, I'm not gonna miss it. Sure, Google gives you 15GB free Drive space with every account. I intend to abuse that for as long as possible. I have at least 10 free Gmail accounts. Probably more. 😂🤣😂🤣
@jake4480 Proton is much better, and given the level of service, a bargain at 12.99. Some people (even me) will balk at paying for email, but the interface is cleaner and everything is encrypted. If you need more than 500GB of storage, there is a family plan, but you should really be looking at a more robust cloud storage solution. I'm pretty happy with it. And I can use my domains...
@wendigo all of this, true. And same, not a fan of paying for email. But with their drive and VPN, yeah. I'm probably gonna do that eventually. It's a great deal and I like what they're doing over there. Hahaha
@jake4480 I have no doubt you'll make the jump when the time is right. I needed domain support and a VPN as well as a drive big enough to handle my album trading. The password manager is icing on the cake.
@wendigo oh man YEAH the password manager too! How could I forget, that's probably the main selling point for me - been looking at all the other options and having one built with the email, storage and VPN is wild. Killer
@wendigo wild! Ah, and yeah not the bandwidth of Google, that's a good point. But for the smaller stuff I do, I bet it'll be fine. I think I uploaded test a video or two there already
@jake4480 Well, Proton keeps saying the bandwidth should be fine, but they clearly don't have that ironed out yet. For you, you should be good. Sometimes I have some large backup files, but it's not like it takes more than an hour or two. I got spoiled is all... ;>)
@wendigo ha! Oh wow yeah an hour or two backup files.. Wild. Yeah, I can see that. I'm such a minimal hobbyist, well, I try to be. Stuff builds up 😂 this week I'm gonna go through my game/toy room which is a mess kinda, it's semi organized and this week I plan on finishing. Not that I don't have a bunch of weird consoles out in the living and bedrooms too 😂 but still. Trying to inventory, clean, pack away or get rid of the rest.
@jake4480 Ha! I kind of imagined your place with a GameBoy at every armchair like it used to be with ash trays. A stereo rack system with consoles that slide out for easy access... ;>)
@wendigo 😂 I will be sure and get more pics when it's done. I think you've seen some of my desk, here's one or two past ones of the game/toy room as it kinda is now. 3rd pic is living room coffee table. I mean, definitely ashtrays 😂🤣 I collect those, too. Not shown: wall of CRTs to right of first pic, and Winnie the Pooh collection to the left. Used to be more Nintendo toys around. Most in storage. But last pic is from living room. Wii stuff mainly out there, with PS2, Series X etc.
@wendigo oh and pretty much every game you see my wife and I have played. I'm not a completionist, I only collect stuff I like. If I don't like a game, I sell it.
@jake4480 Wow, that's pretty cool, man! Looks like you're well on your way to having all that sorted. I don't collect shit anymore except for Blu-rays, e-books, and digital music. I still have a few knick-knacks that have sentimental value for me, though. I'll get snaps when I'm feeling a bit more motivated... ;>)
@wendigo 😂 yeah I go through phases I guess, I do love weird and gross toys. And the cartoon stuff since I do the blog, the games and such was from over on Instagram initially, lots of cool folks on there but also as I didn't have any growing up, initially eBay was pretty good gets earn adult money, back in the early 2000s I started grabbing SNES stuff. And the garage sales, so much stuff is around. But yeah organization is key, knowing when to move stuff on, etc. I know all about that 🤣
