Now been Deutsched by the train driver of the Strasbourg - Offenburg train… for talking

The train is here. I got on. A guy with a bike got on. He asked me a question, we talked

Driver comes out of the cab, scowls at me, and says “Pause!”

I’m only sat here in your effing train so early because your timetables are crap. Shame on me for disturbing your peace by helping a fellow passsnger

The driver is SWEG though, so probably not allowed to use a SNCF staff waiting room

@jon I have taken this train, from Offenburg to Strasbourg. Noisy diesel, even tough the track is electrified between the cities? Different electrification systems, but still why?

@aslakr https://crossborderrail.trainsforeurope.eu/borders/ticketing-or-other-problem/offenburg-strasbourg/ Because neither SNCF nor any firm on the German side has regional trains suitable for use on the other side. It'd be a scandal, if any politicians could get off their arses to care.

@jon EMU's seem to be running several tests. I saw one in a test center at Minden about a week ago. Doesn't look that bad for December 2024. @ummels @aslakr

@wrzlbrnft @ummels @aslakr it’s not the trains. Tests ongoing since 2021. It’s the operator. Grand Est wants SNCF, BaWü and RLP want a tender. Dispute over what happens in the interim.
