Consider updating your story settings to make sure new friends can see what you share & anyone who you’ve fallen out of touch with no longer sees dispatches from your life.
Go to the Stories tab at the bottom of your phone > click your profile icon > Story Privacy > curate your list however you like.
@signalapp I didn't get why anybody would want stories in signal but then I considered the scenario that I don't want pictures of my kids on anybody’s server, but I can blast them out on signal and they go encrypted, directly and don't sit on a server. Makes mom happier that she gets something now since I stopped posting those images on socials.
@signalapp I’ve never really understood why Signal needs Story in the first place. However, I only have the need to communicate with my family and friends through the app.
There are a lot of anti-stories comments here and I just want to add a counterbalance. I actually like stories not many in my contact uses it that much, but I can see it becoming more used in the future. Rather than sharing memes directly into chats where people might be annoyed at the disruption, I think it's useful as a lower priority method of sharing content with friends. @signalapp

I don't use Stories.
I communicate by text, sometimes pictures, audio calls, video calls.
Signal is not Instagram or whatever egotrip social network.
Completely useless feature, I believe Signal is not the right place for that.
@signalapp I'm so thankful for stories! After I stopped using Meta products, I told everyone that this is the only way I'm posting about my life. Opinions may differ, but I think it's pretty close to the best possible implementation. I trust Signal for posting moments of my personal life! ♥️
@signalapp To add some positivity to all the negativity in the comments - I absolutely love the stories feature thank you for adding it! When every app adds stories that we don’t want - messaging was the one place I wanted to be able to post temporary updates, to just my contacts and no “feed”, without it being an ad infested app filled with other garbage. This is exactly that!!!
@signalapp For me, Stories is just weird. I've tried using it a few times, without any success. It just doesn't feel like it belongs in a chat app. And with all the contacts in my list, I have yet to see any of them use Stories.
It just feels forced, almost like an act of desperation to compete with Instagram.
The rest of the app is rock solid though, and I love using it. Just not Stories.
@AudraTran All the people you have responded to in this thread disagree with you. You are the only one defending it, and nobody is watching the stories you are creating.
I don't think this is all a coincidence.
I could be wrong, but I don't want them in my messaging app and I don't ever plan to use them
@AudraTran I know, but having worked in software development for 20 years I've learned that what the loudest people demand isn't always what the community actually wants.
I had a bunch of contacts on Signal, with SMS dropping and Stories taking up so much screen real estate, It's now just me and my GF.
I'd be interested to see what the user stats are because from personal experience their decisions have completely tanked the service.
@AudraTran Well we'll see if people not looking at Stories is a bug or whether people JDGAF. It's fine either way. I have no problem with a piece of software just not being what I am looking for. That's fine. I doubt I'll hang around to see what happens to it tbh. I've been looking at alternatives this week.
@AudraTran Thanks, Session is what I am leaning towards but when I installed it it triggered my Antivirus. Looks like a false positive but I needed to spend some time making sure.
