Facebook = old people who hate computers

Mastodon = old people who love computers

Qybat,

@atomicpoet Working in education, I can see there's a window of computery knowledge: People who grew up in the 90s and 2000s, because after 2010 or so you no longer needed to know how computers worked to use them: They got easy to operate. Like how the panel of dials on old cars disappeared as ECUs came in, so anyone could drive without needing to know how the engine actually works.

Older then 45? Computers are alien machines.

Younger than 25? Computers are what came before phones got cool.

plantgeek,

@atomicpoet

I bet most of them are Linux users and open source peps too.

markstoneman,

@atomicpoet Who you callin' old?

@atomicpoet duck, I'm old

MeeMee,

@atomicpoet was just in a mild tiff w/old people (I’m assuming older than myself, b/c I’m old) who were kvetching about how young people “nowadays” don’t have critical thinking skills b/c of the internet. 😂🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ One woman said that those skills are acquired by searching through old assed library stacks and having to cross reference via anthropological digs! (Not in those exact words, but…) She completely ignores the fact that the world is literally at our fingertips.
