God, I really do hate to be that guy, and I really DON'T want to stand up for The Sun, but misinformation must be challenged...

The Sun didn't feature a countdown to Emma Watson OR Charlotte Church's 16th birthdays.

They are creepy though.

They printed topless photos of Sam Fox when she was 16. They ran Page 3 for decades.

EDIT: THIS WAS THE STAR

They actually printed a photo article about Charlotte Church having breasts WHEN SHE WAS 15.

But they didn't count down to her birthday...

It's worth noting that the countdown to Charlotte Church's 16th birthday does appear to have been real, but was a website set up by some guy which was reported on by a number of papers, The Sun among them.

Be certain though; if that nasty old cunt Murdoch thought he could have got away with it, he would have.

But remember, Sam Fox was 16 when her parents gave The Sun permission to print those photos.

And they lied about Hillsborough then doubled down on it when the truth started to come out.

witewulf,

@DJDarren also: Brass Eye was awesome, and is still sadly missed.

@witewulf I like to view Brass Eye and The Day Today as shows that came along when we needed them most, then left before they got stale.

witewulf,

@DJDarren 100%, there's a lot to be said for going out when you're on top, and Chris Morris is a master at that (although I didn’t find The Day Shall Come at all funny, maybe I wasn't the target audience…)

@witewulf Morris is a genius, quite frankly. Four Lions is damn near perfect.

Also, this entire scene - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZTvMYQSl_w

witewulf,

@DJDarren agreed, Four Lions was his peak. My 14yo watched it last week (with a small briefing from me on the background to it beforehand) and he was in stitches throughout

@DJDarren @witewulf He certainly left the IT Crowd at the right moment.

@DJDarren @witewulf Indeed.

I baled on the show after the first episode when it was broadcast because so much of it seemed to be the tired old men vs. women bollocks that was old hat in the seventies. I gave it another go on Netflix a while back because so many people praised it, but if anything I hated it more except for Morris. Lasted until the trans episode before yeeting at the wall.

@DJDarren @witewulf Also: Father Ted was entirely Arthur's work, and I submit the IT Crowd's tropey awfulness into evidence for this proposition.

@pdcawley @witewulf Yes, I've only ever known Arthur Matthews to be the sole writer on Father Ted. Why would anyone claim there was another?

@DJDarren @witewulf Egg zackly!
