another plus for imaging: it's a dodgy no-name sd card, it'll also count as a test to see how much can be read

and oh look, read error after ~240MB

it's only ~140MB used actually, there's got to be an imager somewhere that lets me skip bad sectors

ok, seems winimage's "image into fixed-size vhd" does

not that it really matters. first image attempt stops at 0xEF00000 (so, 489472 sectors). image is zeroes starting from 0x763A200, or ~124MB, windows says ~116MB used.

looks like it is indeed, just 256MB of flash that claims to be 2GB.

i got it from CeX, you'd think they'd actually check such things, especially for an obvious no-name card like this, but whatever

@Rairii cex is the place you can buy game discs that have severe scratches in the back but they thought worked fine cause it got to the splash screen, idk why you expected them to be vigilant about scammy sd cards

@ipg the most hilarious of which being the ~500gb ide hd bought from ebay which had data on it...

...it was part of an mdadm raid array

...it had plaintext data from windows VMs, including exchange/sharepoint/etc

i didn't look at it that much before wiping it, and i didn't have the disk space to image it

so having made 3 images, I reformatted the thing and ran h2testw on it

test finished without errors

i wonder if the read errors were because most of the flash literally had not EVER been written to before lol
