Random programming / maths question:

I keep my accounts in , and when I start the year, I reset all the values to 0.

I have one cell which calculates a percentage. When I set all cells to 0, it throws a Divide By Zero error.

Is this correct? Surely the only number you can actually divide by zero is zero? Or is dividing zero by zero also mathematically/programmatically incorrect?

@motomatters it used to be that if you asked Siri this question, it would respond thus: https://youtu.be/uEVeiiHZP68

@laventeot Yeah, thanks, I asked without googling then found the explanation immediately afterwards. the x * 0 argument really makes it obvious that it's an unknown number.

Naturally, 30 seconds googling answered my question.

Basically 0/0 = x can be expressed as 0 = x * 0, and that is true for all values of x. So it is indeed undefined, rather than zero.

@motomatters It's too early in the morning (not even 7 am here) for such maths. 😂

in all seriousness, glad you found the solution.
