The “Unknome”: A Database of Human Genes We Know Almost Nothing About

Accelerating research by sharpening the focus on unknown proteins. UK researchers have developed a new publicly accessible database, and they hope to see it shrink over time. That’s because it is a compendium of the thousands of understudied proteins encoded by genes in the human genome, whose exis

AnarchistArtificer,

I’m surprised I hadn’t seen this paper sooner, this database sounds like a necessary thing; we’ve known for a few years about how when it comes to annotation of genes in databases etc., there’s a “the rich gets richer” effect, where the more well understood genes and proteins are studied more. ^[1]
