@GeekinKorea It's a very ADHD list, more an intention that occasionally gets specific, but I've already marked Willow and They Live off it. I bought Xanadu on VHS for $1 at a flea market so that's definitely there. Also Zardoz.
@GeekinKorea OH, and I also marked Dune (1984) off it when I spent part of covid becoming A Person With Opinions About Dune. (I am in love with that movie now.)
@trixter I am curating a list for my daughter because she is interested in horror movies, so I've been catching her up on movies foundational to the genre I grew up on within the bounds of "Don't make it awkward to watch with a parent".
We watched The Thing two weeks ago. She liked it and watched attentively.
If you want more body horror like The Thing, "Society" was the grossest, most over the top body horror I've seen recently.

Of course, my list -- if it WAS formal -- wouldn't include foundational movies I HAVE seen, like all the Alien movies, which I've loved since I was a teenager.
I'll make a note of "Society"! I need to look into Cronenberg in general, too. Don't think I've seen a version of The Fly that wasn't a basic cable edit.
@trixter I also need to revisit The Fly on my own. I haven't seen it in a VERY long time, and I remember it being unsettling.
My daughter LOVED Alien & Aliens. She loves to watch strong lead characters who aren't morons in horror.
She doesn't have patience for people being killed by being morons. I think Terminator 2 would suit her well, but there is a LOT of swearing and violence.
@GeekinKorea I have a friend whose little girl is really into the Child's Play movies, though they're on The List (at least the first one) so I can't speak to whether they'd be a good candidate or not. I was a really sensitive kid so I didn't get into horror at all until my teens.
@trixter Obligatory "Bier!" + "Tempting, but no" quote shout-outs with a Willow high-five, however belated.
No one can in any way tell we had massive inside humour or "Just repeat quotes at appropriate moments" times with that in our teens, wot?
They Live has never been available for viewing anywhere I've been or moved, so all that's been seen of that are the meme style pics over the years. Zardoz I never get past 10 minutes on if it's on somewhere. Hasn't been for probably 2 decades either.
