OpenVPN comes before Wireguard. This makes no sense wireguard is faster and easier to setup. Literally no reason in 2023 to even consider openvpn, unless one of your clients is a windows 2000 machine.
Many routers will also let you either load or use a router based vpn. Ubiquity will let you load wireguard on the edgerouter lites for example, so you don't necessarily need additional resources.
