Just dropped a new episode of The Self-Host Cast featuring a casual conversation with Ivan, the developer of the #vehicle maintenance tracking application #LubeLogger.
Would love some feedback on ways to improve or suggestions for future episode topics!
i really like #flatnotes, but it's a little bit too minimalistic ... thinking about switching to another #note taking solution ... but there are so many options. #obsidian , #logseq , #joplin ?
main requirements are that its needs to be quick and easy to use; syncing the notes between desktop and android phone (not through external cloud, needs to be #selfhosted) ... preferrably 100% #foss - so i guess obsidian is already out?
Weeknote W18 is out, with an insight into all the #Accessibility work that went into Manyfold last week, and what's still to come. Carousels, skip links, language markers, and a massive rewrite of the 3d renderer, all included.
Manyfold v0.65.0 has been released! This release is all about #Accessibility, after our audit last week. There's a big pile of improvements around screen reading, keyboard navigation, colour, labelling, and so on, which will benefit everyone! More to come, too!
It's been great to be able to get some expert advice and then put time into this, thanks to NLNet and @NGIZero. It's a rare opportunity in open source!
As always, submit your own release or someone else's, it can be by #FediMusicians or not, hosted on #Bandcamp, #Faircamp, #JamCoop, #Mirlo or #SelfHosted, as long as it is by an #IndieArtist (but bonus points for supporting Bandcampers today, as it's the last one for a while).
Simply make a direct comment (with a link & description) to this post and it will appear at https://isitfairtrademusicfri.day automagically!
As my old NUC was showing its age, and didn't suffice for my #homelab needs anymore, I decided to build a new one. And because I prefer running all my #selfhosted in containers, but abhor fucking around with #docker and docker-compose, it's a single-node #k8s cluster, using #k3s, just like my old server. One big difference is that the new server has a decent amount of drives for storage. I decided to set up #zfs to manage that, and zfs is all it's cracked up to be.
Manyfold v0.64.0 is out now, with a bundle of accessibility and performance improvements, and the ability to set the interface language manually if you don't want it to happen automatically.
So I have a bunch of #selfhosted services running at home. Now, my home #ISP is your typical large Canadian telco (aka assholes) and they are actively sabotaging my host-at home stuff. (i.e. I set it up, it works a few days, then it stops being reachable from outside, at work, rebooting doesn't fix etc.)
Can any recommend a reliable "just works" remoting solution (where the host is linux) where I can always remote in if the host has power and an outbound connection?? (paid is ok)
📢 Woohoo! Version v6.1.15 of Firefly III has just been released 🎉. Check it out over at GitHub, Docker, or download it using your favorite package manager.
#WeekNote 2024-W16 is out, with some behind-the-scenes insight into what went on in Manyfold last week, and the work that went into release v0.63.0 which came out yesterday.
Includes OBJ file edge cases, tablecloth tricks swapping out the background runner, and getting very annoyed at the macOS filesystem's case handling.
Are there already experiences with installation of Llama 3 on your own hardware (on premis or a virtual server) and the experiences with that ?
(compared to via azure, amazon, google cloud).
Contemplating this as an option. #AI#llama3#opensource#selfhosted
