Some of the biggest hurdles are having to interact with the police to even get a license to carry. Plus it’s expensive. Plenty of people opt to just learn to shoot, borrowing from friends.
They lost every local campaign. Every school board race had some skinwalker cloaked as parental rights and my fairly progressive city saw right through them.
This. I am in a solidly blue district. 4 out of the 7 school board candidates, ALL of the non-incumbents, were running on some sort of "family values" or "parents' rights" platform. But their statements to media were highly scrubbed because they know to tread carefully and avoid the dog whistles. One of them unseated an incumbent (and the only POC in the group) yesterday. I'm glad the trend is going in the right direction nationally. But I wouldn't call for a victory lap just yet.
West Virginia and Montana exist. Kentucky is a former deep blue state too. I think they just have to be DINO and contrarian. Not saying it’s easy, but growing up I wouldn’t have thought deep south Georgia would elect two democratic senators.
I’m just saying it’s weird that a democratic governor almost always wins, but a democratic senator never wins. Seems like their senators are juggernauts. Maybe if they left, a democrat would stand a better chance.
In my Right-leaning-but-going-left city 2 of these candidates lost hard, I’m one of the votes against them lol so glad because one of them is def farrr right (But even pretended to be not so far right and still lost)

It’s a 2deep4u way of saying they think both parties are equally bad and the reason you don’t like fascist groups like mom’s for liberty, isn’t that they are reprehensible, but instead because they are divisive for the point of keeping you distracted.
If you don’t think it matters who is on a school board (generally not a party-affiliated elected position), you must not care about the future of this country, because children are it.
