Had a scare with a vinyl. Put Snow Patrol Eyes open and it distorts. Seemed fine when I switched to the cars then put chicane on and it was distorting again in places. Cleaned the stylus with some iso alcohol and it seems to have fixed it.
@Whiskeyomega you probably just had some loose matter on or around the stylus. Dust, fluff, whatever.
Happens to me too. Just blowing it out usually does the trick for me.
@TheVinylApe Tried twice to actually clean it in the end. It sorted itself out after the 2nd time when ieft it overnight. What ever it was it would not come off with a dry stylus brush
