Always nice when the surface noise is non-existent. Cleaning the stylus halfway through a side because you wet cleaned the record gets tired really quickly.
I keep telling myself only got to do it once and they can stay in the inner sleeves.
Anyway. Nothing wrong with this pressing from "Record Industry" which was actually the wrong pressing I thought I had. So ive gone from being 1 of 14981 to 1 of 2913
I think more than any genre I am at the moment enjoying #reggae on #vinyl – also, I have so much still to discover here; to my shame I only vaguely knew this fantastic Birmingham (UK) band until recently.
one of the records I grew up with, courtesy of my budding trumpet player older brother, and still one of my absolute favourites, so I got myself my own copy.
The album before the one everyone bought.
A fussy thing that needs cleaning well to get the best out of it. Just guess it wasn't pressed heavily
Still sounds good after 2 wet cleans.
Starting this LP and asking…”what’s all this about Samba, then, Milt?” is forgivable…because all of side 1 is the “Jazz”. The “Samba” kicks in with side 2 and you can’t blame Bags for wanting to cash in a little.
The liner notes are amusing: “…spoke of (samba) as ephemeral and predicted that overproduction would run it into the ground.”
RvG definitely turned the dials up to 11 when recording this one…maybe 12.

I love Cannonball Adderley and in particular his collaborations with his brother Nat, but on this instead we get Miles Davis on probably the best record where he’s credited as session musician.
Some more #RobinTrower - not as well known as Bridge of Sighs but still amazing. I can’t beleive I hadn’t heard of this guy before sometime in the last year…I have a lot of stuff to catch up on. Pretty sure I got this record from a dollar bin, and it’s in great shape. A good vacuum cleaning helped for sure.
