@osma I would say it’s a very big difference between how Finland and Sweden uses dispersed air bases. In Tervo road base which hosted the F35A, the “runway” is 3000 meters long. The ones used in Sweden can be as short as 800 meters and are much narrower. The F35A which Finland has purchased needs a runway of 2500 meters .

@osma a pleasant surprise! I was sure they needed a clean room and some lab gear to operate.

Some further details here. Confirms it's the first time Royal Norwegian Air Force has landed on a road base - and that the planes were hot-supplied (refueled while the engine was running) as an exercise to minimize ground time.

Wasn't sure Norwegians hadn't tried dispersed ops before. Standard doctrine in Finland and Sweden. Doubt we would have chosen to acquire F-35A if it couldn't have been operated this way.
