"It's Going to Take Some Time" is a song written by #CaroleKing and Toni Stern for King’s 1971 album, #Music. It was redone by the Carpenters in 1972 for their fourth album, #ASongForYou. According to Richard Carpenter, he had to choose which songs he wanted to remake, and there was a big pile of 7-inch singles he had to listen to. When he encountered #ItsGoingToTakeSomeTime, he knew it would be a hit, and recorded it. https://youtu.be/n8kJVMULKRE
NOTE: Not only does #DavidBowie and his massive noise-blues-punk project totally slay on this TV appearance, but we also get to see David Bowie’s bare torso! Really.
NOTE: Legendary free jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock rocks out on tracks he recorded for Adult Swim’s “Space Ghost: Coast To Coast.” Thurston Moore made a guest appearance on a Space Ghost tribute to Sharrock after his death.
NOTE: I belong to the #EVOLIsTheBest school of Sonic Youth fans, but I’d rather hear this song or “Tom Violence” instead of “Expressway To Your Skull.”
NOTES: As I continue to dig through the #1990s, I must admit the Lemonheads had some real high points. Most of them were in “It’s A Shame About Ray,” but their anthemic downer tune “The Door” was a total beat down of all the wannabe “losers” of the decade.
NOTE: Both tunes are from #MetalCircus, one of the first hardcore/indie rock albums I ever bought at Yesterday And Today Records in Rockville, Maryland. RIP Skip Groff.
NOTE: This song is from Crosby’s debut solo album “If I Could Only Remember My Name,” which includes contributions from the whole ‘60s SF/LA scene (Jerry Garcia, Neil Young, etc).
