Warhawk was easily one of the top releases for the Spectrum Next at launch, but it also happens to serve as a fantastic upgrade to a brilliant budget blaster too!
So let's dive into it, and the original version to see just what an upgrade it is!
I may not have grown up with them, but #Atari's 8-bit line of micros has a lot of neat games, even if they weren't the first pick for a lot of the 8-bit era.
And seeing there's that new mini hitting the market which might bring some new folks to the fold - here's a selection of games "I Just Think Are Neat", but also don't rely on loads of key controls.
We've been waiting a heck of a time for it, but Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is finally here, and yes, I had to do a bit of a deep-dive to see if the latest @DigitalEclipse documentary makes for a fun, fluffy and zappy exploration of the early @llamasoft_ox years.
(Obviously the answer is it does. But y'know. Watch to vid to see how <3)
Deadly Skies (aka Airforce Delta Storm) takes the air combat action you'd expect from its console counterparts, and squeezes it into your GBA in such a way as to keep the high flying thrills intact.
It's the LAST #BeyondTheScanlines for the year - and it's back to a big cross-platform comparison featuring the game which show what happens when you take a sci-fi wargame, and combine it with some Spacewar-esque action.
It's a new #BeyondTheScanlines and this time (in lieu of a larger edit which some other things got in the way of), I look at Lunaris, a (relatively) modern #ZXSpectrum release which takes the Gravity Shooter formula and ponders enough changes (and orbs) to make for a unique experience, in an under-represented genre on the Rubber Keyed Beast.
Time for a new #BeyondTheScanlines - and this one? It's special - double milestone special!
Not only is it episode 100, but it's also 10 years since I started making videos about old games, and it feels apt to cover not only an awesome game, but one which kind of served the first step towards me doing videos.
None other than a GOAT of an arcade to home translation with none other than @llamasoft_ox's LEGENDARY Tempest 2000.
Rendered out the first pass of #BeyondTheScanlines 100, and next is to proof it.
If all goes well, that'll be going up for early next week which just so happens to be the 10th anniversary of when I started making videos about old games.
Also making plans for a special stream next week to celebrate too.
Combat Flight Sims & Consoles aren't normally an ideal pairing, and whilst F-22 Interceptor for the #megadrive might not entirely succeed, it's certainly an interesting enough, yet anachronistic effort nonetheless.
